GESEC Participates in the International Day of Older Persons 2025 in Gijón
Download PdfOn October 1st, 2025, to mark the International Day of Older Persons, Professor Fidel Molina Luque, Chair of Sociology at the University of Lleida and Director of the Research Group on Society, Health, Education and the Culture of Care (GESEC), was invited by the Red Cross of Asturias and the City Council of Gijón to deliver a lecture entitled “The New Social Contract Between Generations: Designing a Profigurative Future”.
The event took place in the Assembly Hall of the Gijón School of Commerce, as part of the conference “Intergenerational Connection: Societies with People of All Ages”, organized by the Local Assembly of the Spanish Red Cross in Gijón, with the participation of local authorities and several social organizations.
During his address, Fidel Molina Luque discussed the current challenges of intergenerational coexistence and the need for a new social contract that fosters inclusive, participatory, and intergenerational societies, drawing on his research into profiguration and human sustainability.
This invitation highlights the academic and social recognition of Professor Molina Luque’s trajectory and the contribution of GESEC to the study and dissemination of socio-educational practices that strengthen social cohesion and intergenerational dialogue.
